Wheels up for vebrores EP HBC HCR at Cranfield Airport

SKYDROL resistant flooring, vebrores EP HBC HCR, has been chosen to refresh an aircraft hangar at Cranfield Airport, a small private airport and aviation research centre located 50 miles from Central London.

First opened in June of 1937, and owned by the world-renowned Cranfield University, the airport has a long history in general aviation, and owing to its central location and its large runway, Cranfield is one of the fastest growing airports in the UK for business jet traffic.

Priding itself on maintaining excellent facilities for a first-class, swift service through the airport, Cranfield University is keen to ensure the high quality of its customer-facing areas is mirrored in the operational back-end spaces, including its aircraft hangars.

Vebro Polymers’ vebrores EP HBC HCR was chosen to do just that, bringing durability, wear and impact resistance as well as protection against attack from aviation fluid to this high-performance area of the airport.

The epoxy high-build SKYDROL resistant flooring system provides excellent resistance to a range of cleaning agents and industrial chemicals, as well as aviation fluids including Skydrol – an absolute must-have for any area designated for the storage and maintenance of aircraft.

Skydrol is a hydraulic fluid used in aviation and aerospace applications, demonstrating excellent resistance to fire as well as extreme temperature and pressure conditions. The phosphate ester-based fluid is corrosive, rendering concrete at risk of severe damage unless protected by a suitable resistant floor coating system. vebrores EP HBC HCR takes attack from Skydrol in its stride, effectively protecting the substrate from any associated degradation.

The FeRFA Type 3 high-build coating system delivers a durable finish under foot… and wheel!

FeRFA is the UK’s leading trade association for the industrial and commercial resin flooring, screeding and surface preparation industries.

The leading authority for over 50 years on resin flooring systems, FeRFA has led the way in promoting the benefits of resin flooring as a high-performance solution for industrial and commercial applications, as well as taking a leading role in developing national and international standards for resin flooring, screeding and surface preparation.

Typically defined as providing excellent wear and chemical resistance, FeRFA Type 3 floor coating systems are used to protect industrial and commercial floors in medium duty areas.

Installed at Cranfield Airport in RAL 7035 Light Grey across the main floor area and a complementary RAL 5017 Traffic Blue around the perimeter to denote the safe walking area, vebrores EP HBC HCR is available in an almost limitless palette of RAL and BS 4800 colour shades.

Both RAL 7035 Light Grey and RAL 5017 Traffic Blue are included in Vebro Polymers’ range of 18 stocked colours — a series of epoxy-coating shades that we keep in stock at all times, giving applicators the peace of mind that their chosen colour will be available under a quick turnaround.

The 18 stocked colours include 9 Glorious Greys and 9 Brilliant Brights, and cover our most popular pigments across the vebrores range of high-build and self-levelling epoxy coatings, including Vebro Polymers’ Skydrol resistant high-build epoxy floor coating system.

Zoning and demarcation are not the only ways vebrores EP HBC HCR can help to improve safety. The texture profile of the system, which comprises two coats of vebro EP Universal HCR installed over vebro EP Primer, can be customised by the inclusion of silica sand scattered into the first coat of epoxy high-build before being overcoated with the second.

The solvent-free, very low odour formulation also promotes safety, comfort and ease for applicators using the materials on site, while minimising the environmental impact of the floor’s installation.

vebrores EP HBC HCR, SKYDROL resistant flooring from Vebro Polymers’ industrial range, was installed at Cranfield Airport by the team at Central Flooring Services Ltd, a Leicester-based resin flooring installation company with whom Vebro Polymers has built a strong partnership from the very beginning.

Not only are the Central Flooring Services team dedicated to excellence, their goal to create long-term relationships with their customers by delivering quality time and time again aligns with Vebro and its raison d’être.

Together, Vebro Polymers and Central Flooring have provided top quality products and expert installation for a range of clients in a variety of environments including electrostatic sensitive processing facilities, large scale industrial manufacturing, automotive maintenance garages and institutional facilities.
