The Social Hub has chosen Vebro Polymers’ resin alternative to vinyl, vebroflex Comfort UV, to transform a number of accommodation, co-working and relaxation spaces in its Glasgow venue.

The Social Hub, located in the city’s Candleriggs Square, is marketed to students and professionals as a place to learn, stay, work and play.
Not only does the building feature hotel rooms for short term stays, there is also longer-term availability for students to make The Social Hub their home-away-from-home for the academic year.
On top of that, the hotel’s shared social spaces, rooftop pool, bar and restaurant make the venue a flexible option for a range of social, study or work events.
Resin flooring package: Resin alternative to vinyl
A total of 800 m2 vebroflex Comfort UV in the shade RAL 7035 Light Grey was chosen to transform the bar, restaurant, social activities space, co-working rooms and the lobby’s WC.
The overhaul of The Social Hub’s collaborative and communal areas was scheduled to take place during 2023 Christmas holidays before students were due to arrive early in 2024.
vebroflex Comfort UV is a seamless, flexible, polyurethane comfort resin flooring system with a pigmented UV seal coat.
The liquid-applied alternative to vinyl floor coverings provides a hygienic finish as well as an elastic cushioning effect underfoot, not only improving the comfort underfoot for users of the space, but also absorbing impact sound by up to 3 dB and reducing heat loss in multi-occupancy spaces.
The system’s excellent cleanability and seamless hygienic finish makes vebroflex Comfort UV an ideal choice for a busy accommodation and public venue like The Social Hub, where cleaning and maintenance should occur without disruption to visitors and guests.
Resin floor installation partner: MJF
The multi-layer flexible polyurethane system, a high performance and easy-to-maintain resin alternative to vinyl that is ideally suited to commercial environments, was installed throughout public areas of The Social Hub by the team at MJF.

Resin floor installation schedule
After meticulous surface preparation, MJF applied two coats of vebro EP DPM prior to the installation of vebroflex Comfort UV, to mitigate the substrate’s excessive moisture content.
The solvent free, two-component epoxy damp proof membrane is liquid-applied and cures to form a surface damp proof membrane and moisture vapour suppressant, ideal for fast-track transformations like The Social Hub’s two-week festive facelift.
vebroflex Comfort UV was then installed to complete the renovation, creating in an industrial-chic interior that perfectly complements the contemporary design scheme of The Social Hub.
