Introducing liquid-applied PU membrane

vebroflex PU Liquid Membrane, a low emission, two-component elastic polyurethane, has been developed to further enhance the comfort properties of vebroflex systems, while reducing the transfer of impact sound between floors in multi-storey buildings. 

Installed using conventional polymer flooring tools — a roller and squeegee — over Vebro’s epoxy primer, blinded with either silica sand or natural quartz dependent on the system, before being overcoated with a vebroflex body coat and sealer, the vebroflex PU Liquid Membrane layer delivers impact sound reduction of up to 12 dB at a thickness of just 2.0 mm. 

Vebro’s alternative sound reduction option, which delivers sound reduction of up to 20 dB for areas where the additional dampening of the sound of footsteps and other impact is crucial, involves the application of an adhesive over the blinded primer, before rolling out sheets of either 4.0 mm, 6.0 mm or 9.0 mm rubber matting, followed by a primer, body coat and sealer.

While Vebro’s new PU liquid-applied, sound-reducing membrane offers scheduling benefits by reducing the number of installation steps required to achieve impressive levels of sound reduction, the overall reduction in thickness can open up opportunities in renovation projects, where every millimetre of floor-to-ceiling height is fought for. By opting for vebroflex PU Liquid Membrane over vebroflex Matting, up to 8.0 mm of system thickness can be shaved off. 

The attractive, high performance finish that applicators, specifiers and end-users have come to expect from Vebro’s liquid vinyl flooring offering remains, with systems in the range delivering not only on aesthetics, but also on durability, resistance to wear, tear and chemicals, as well as ease of cleaning maintenance. 

All vebroflex systems are classified as FeRFA Type 5 – flow applied flooring systems that are suitable for medium to heavy-duty commercial and industrial applications – exhibit wear resistance of ≤30 – ≤80 mg, a minimum of Shore A Hardness of 75 and impact strength greater than 4 Nm. 

The PU liquid vinyl’s flexibility has been retained too — and not just with its up to 200% elongation at break or 12 – 15% tear resistance — but also with its finish. 

Architects and specifiers can choose from a range of decorative finishes including an extensive palette of RAL matched solid colour shades, fine micro-chippings for visual texture, or even a marbling effect achieved using two or more solid colour shades and specialist installation techniques. 

Not only that, but the choice of seal coat can also impact the aesthetic qualities of the floor over time dependent on the expected use of the space. Opting for Vebro’s clear matt seal coat, vebroflex PU UV WB Seal (Clear Matt), can help to reduce the effects of heavy foot traffic and even the wheeled castors of office and laboratory chairs. 

vebroflex polyurethane comfort flooring systems have been formulated from natural biopolymers and meet stringent (AgBB) criteria for low emissions coatings.  

The AgBB evaluation scheme sets out the quality standards for building products intended for use indoors that are relevant to health. In doing so, the scheme fosters the innovation and development of particularly low-emission products, including those in Vebro Polymers’ vebroflex range.
